Sales Training and Development Manager

Job Description:

This role is responsible for strengthening Orascoptic’ s commercial organization through leadership of both Sales Training and the RSSR development program. The position ensures sales representatives and RSSRs are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and tools to succeed in the field and deliver an exceptional customer experience. Key responsibilities include assessing training needs, designing and delivering onboarding and development programs, and providing ongoing coaching, mentorship, and real-time feedback. The role also oversees the recruitment, onboarding, daily management, and performance development of the RSSR team, establishing KPIs, standard work practices, and structured field experiences. In addition, it manages program travel to maximize resources in covering open territories and events. By building a strong talent pipeline and aligning training and development with broader organizational strategies, this position drives both immediate sales effectiveness and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Training

  • Determine training needs by working directly with the field sales representatives and managers to understand core competencies and technical skills required for the position
  • Provide best in class online and onsite sales training including new hire onboarding, product training, selling skills, competitor awareness and customer relationship management training.
  • Support the Sales team by participating in field ride-alongs to provide real time feedback and training to new and struggling sales representatives.
  • Identify and gather best practices from the field to be documented, communicated, and deployed within the organization.
  • Coordinate and monitor the formal mentorship program for new hires, adjusting as required.
  • Improve training effectiveness by staying current with innovative approaches and techniques and liaising with other Envista OpCo trainers to share best practices.
  • Create and support both new training materials and those currently in use, for classroom, online and mobile learning platforms.
  • Develop, plan, and execute sales training during the annual Orascoptic Global Sales Meeting.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to stay current on product updates, new releases and collateral required to support training efforts.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

RSSR Program Manager

  • Lead the recruitment, onboarding, training and daily leadership of the RSSR team members.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs to support RSSR skill development and team integration.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the RSSR team to ensure professional growth and performance excellence.
  • Oversee the daily management of the RSSR team as well as develop, track, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and standard work practices to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage program travel logistics to ensure maximum resource utilization in covering open territories and supporting events.
  • Support the RSSR team’s field development by providing structured learning opportunities, shadowing experiences, and performance feedback.
  • Ensure RSSRs are fully prepared for seamless transitions into field representative roles through tailored development plans and readiness assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align RSSR objectives with broader sales strategies

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPTD, ATD) a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales training, sales enablement, or commercial leadership, preferably in a medical device, dental, or healthcare-related industry.
  • 2+ years of experience managing or mentoring field-based sales teams or early-career development programs.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven ability to design, deliver, and evaluate effective training programs across multiple modalities (in-person, virtual, e-learning).
  • Strong coaching and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop talent.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems (LMS); experience with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) preferred.
  • Ability to analyze performance data and translate insights into actionable training strategies.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 40–50%, including field visits, sales meetings, and events.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel independently.

Physical Expectations:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during training sessions, meetings, or travel.
  • Frequent use of computer, phone, and presentation equipment.
  • Occasional lifting or transport of training materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs).
  • Must be able to travel by car and air, including overnight stays.

Target Market Salary Range:

Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
