The Team
We are seeking an experienced leader to join the RBA’s Regional and Industry Analysis (RIA) Section within Economic Group in the South Australian (Adelaide) office. The position will ideally commence early in the new year and the appointment will be for 2 years with the possibility of a further extension.
The role RIA’s liaison program delivers critical insights into the realities and challenges faced by Australian businesses. These perspectives play a vital role in shaping monetary policy advice and deepening the RBA’s understanding of economic conditions. The team interviews executives at around 800 Australian firms and other important organisations and also works closely with other sections in Economic Group.
The Role
The primary purpose of the role is to lead liaisons, grow the range of external contacts to support the effectiveness of the RBA’s liaison program, lead analysis that supports monetary policy advice and lead other staff in the Adelaide Office to reach their potential.
Working with RIA offers unique opportunities to develop skills and gain experiences that are highly valuable for career growth including-
Building breadth and depth in leadership, communication, and decision making
Frequently leading external meetings with a wide range of organisations, often at chief executive or chief financial officer level, and communicating the RBA's work
Significant autonomy in driving policy-relevant work plans, and multiple opportunities for cross-section collaboration and leadership
Occasional travel to other areas in South Australia and to Darwin, and periodic travel back to Head Office in Sydney.
About You
We’re seeking an experienced leader who can drive a positive and collaborative culture across their team and build strategic relationships with influence. This will be supported by your ability to demonstrate:

Demonstrated strong critical thinking skills and the ability to oversee assessments of macroeconomic conditions based on liaison information and official and other statistics.
Exemplary professional conduct in internal and external dealings is essential to the role. It is expected the Senior Representative will ensure the culture in the Office is aligned with the Bank’s RBA’s authentic and inclusive values and maintain high levels of employee engagement.
