Job Summary: About the Position: Serve as a Senior Human Resources advisor for United States Forces Korea (USFK) and the United Nations Command (UNC). Please review the U.S. Embassy website https://kr.usembassy.gov/services-controlled-substance/ for South Korea for prescription/drug regulations.

Major Duties:

  • Provides expert HR programs advice, guidance and management information through use of analytical reasoning and various human resources management processes, programs, and practices.
  • Consult on the most effective HR products to support strategic goals and objectives and produce results that accomplish the mission.
  • Serves as expert advisor and staff action officer for the Combined Forces Command, United Nations Command, and United States Forces Korea (CFC/UNC/USFK).
  • Responds to questions or inquiries from headquarters staff elements or personnel offices throughout the Far East Region.

Specialized Experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes three or more of the following: (1) planning, coordinating, and/or implementing civilian human resource programs, (2) providing interpretation and advice on civilian human resource laws, regulations, policies and procedures, (3) providing authoritative technical advisory services related to classification, recruitment or staffing, and (4) experience in performing position management or manpower document reviews; 5) identifying, proposing, and implementing improvement solutions for policy, process, or procedural problem areas. The United States is included in this exemption. The memorandum must identify each applicant, date of submission, country of travel for PCS/TDY /TAD and DoD Visa Passport Automated System (VPAS) ID. After applying for an Official Passport and if it cannot be obtained prior to departure, use of a Regular (blue) Passport in lieu of the Official Passport is permissible for travel via MILAIR, contract and commercial air. Traveler will not be reimbursed for the cost of the Regular (blue) Passport. The Regular (blue) Passport must have sufficient validity to cover the entire travel period. Upon receipt of the SIP, traveler must coordinate with the DoD Passport Agent in country to ensure the proper visa and SOFA Stamp is placed on the SIP within 90 days of arrival in country by ROK Immigration officials. Non-US passport users and non-Korean passport users must comply with ROK requirements. These travelers from a third country must verify and coordinate all passport and visa or K-ETA requirements prior to traveling. In many cases a visa must be obtained prior to travel.
