Field Project Manager

What You Will Do

At Johnson Controls, we’re reimagining the performance of buildings to serve people, places, and the planet. As a Field Project Manager, you will be a key leader responsible for overseeing field installation activities and ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You’ll work closely with Project Management, District leadership, Installation Coordinators, and technical partners to plan, resource, and deliver successful installations across assigned projects.

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys partnering with field teams, solving problems in real time, and driving strong project and financial outcomes.

How You Will Do It

  • Provide overall management and oversight of installation work performed in the field by contractors and field teams, ensuring work is completed as planned.
  • Contribute to the development of project scope and installation designs for assigned projects.
  • Review labor plans and cost estimates for field resources; track, manage, and report on field team profitability for assigned projects and sites.
  • Develop site-by-site installation schedules in partnership with District Managers and Installation Coordinators.
  • Collaborate with District Managers and Installation Coordinators to secure field resources and with the Project Technical Lead to ensure teams have the knowledge and skills required for quality installations.
  • Hold field teams accountable for quality performance and provide timely performance feedback to the Enterprise Project Manager and Field Leadership.
  • Ensure all installation instructions, requirements, and documentation are provided to field teams and contractors in advance of scheduled installations.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of installation requirements to assess field performance quality and provide Level 2 support for issues escalated from Installation Coordinators.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for field resource teams regarding installation-related questions and issue resolution.
  • Collect and consolidate installation progress and status updates from Installation Coordinators and provide timely reporting to the Enterprise Project Manager.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to the Project Technical Lead as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and proactively offer assistance to maintain an efficient workflow.

What We Look For

Education & Certifications

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • FASA/BASA certification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of installation and/or field operations experience.
  • At least 3 years of installation management experience.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and motivate field teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across diverse audiences and organizational levels.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to be persuasive or assertive when necessary.
  • Ability to understand and respect differing perspectives to influence positive outcomes.
  • General knowledge of company products and services.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Smartsheet, and related tools.

HIRING Salary Range: $100k-138k (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
