Major Duties:

  • You will establish all engineering requirements and criteria governing the design, certification, life limits, and in-service integrity of air vehicle landing gear systems via specifications, technical expertise, SOPs.
  • You will evaluate proposals for air vehicle subsystems to identify deficiencies of the design, development, test and evaluation procedures, and components applicable to Navy and Marine Corps aircraft.
  • You will plan technical direction of laboratory and flight-testing programs including evaluation of test plans, specifying instrumentation requirements and interpretation/approval of data/test results
  • You will deliver optimized engineering solutions that are balanced to achieve required technical performance within cost, schedule, and technology constraints.
  • You will function as a member of the Landing and Arresting Gear Branch, providing technical guidance to a technical workforce and meeting customer requirements for associated landing gear systems, products, and/or services.
  • You will apply tools such as but not limited to: Risk Management, Configuration Management, Data Management, Trade-off Analysis/Trade Studies, Technical Performance Measurement, Technical Reviews, Modeling and Simulation or Earned Value Management.

Qualifications: In addition to meeting the BASIC REQUIREMENT, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS 9/11 grade level or DS-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing computer aided design (CAD) to model components and/or systems; Performing finite element analysis; Performing static, kinematic, and fatigue analysis; Preparing and presenting a brief to an audience/leadership; Providing technical recommendations to aircraft programs related to landing gear or other sub-systems for the purpose of technical improvements, qualification requirements, and operational risk mitigation; AND Working individually or as part of a group to design a solution to a prescribed problem while being conscious of cost, schedule, and risks.
