  • An opportunity now exists to join RMIT’s School of Engineering and contribute to the growth of teaching and research within the Department of Mechanical, Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering

  • 1 x Full time, ongoing appointment based at the City Campus

  • Remuneration at Academic Level D $170,080 - $187,373 plus 17% Superannuation

About the Role

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching across Undergraduate and Masters programs, provide leadership in course and program coordination, and contribute to curriculum development. Drawing on strong industry experience, you will embed industry engagement into teaching and foster collaborative relationships with academic and professional communities.

The role requires an established research profile, including leading impactful research and securing competitive funding from government and industry sources. The appointee will contribute collegially to the Department and support the continued growth and reputation of the School.

About You

To be successful for this appointment, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare, coordinate and deliver contemporary learning and teaching educational activities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the area of Engineering Management, including both face to face and online delivery.  Ability to produce high quality contemporary curriculum and programmatic materials to support delivery and authentic assessment.

  • Track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas including Engineering Management and Systems Engineering, evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, success with obtaining competitive research funding, and industry/professional linkages.

  • Ability to undertake course coordination and program coordination roles or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning.

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.

  • Ability to build effective networks with colleagues for example, to generate new collaboratively funded projects through effective liaison with industry and government.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

PhD or equivalent  in relevant field.

Preferred: Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent  (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children Check and other checks as required by the specific role. Maintaining a valid Working With Children Check is a condition of employment at RMIT.
