About the Position:

Flinders University is entering an exciting new phase of growth and investment, with the College of Science and Engineering strengthening disciplines that will shape the future workforce and deliver meaningful research impact. Mechanical Engineering is a key priority area within this vision and is experiencing significant growth across teaching, research and industry engagement.

We are seeking a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering who will play a pivotal role in this next phase of growth. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a modern mechanical engineering teaching program while building a strong and sustainable research profile.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, research-informed teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programs, including lectures, tutorials, laboratories and multi-mode delivery (face-to-face and online)
  • Design and continuously improve contemporary curriculum that prepares graduates for professional practice and emerging industry needs
  • Undertake ethical and impactful research in mechanical engineering, particularly in solid mechanics, mechanical design, or closely related areas
  • Publish in quality outlets and pursue external competitive grant funding
  •  Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students
  •  Build and strengthen partnerships with industry, professional bodies and external stakeholder
  •  Contribute to accreditation, quality assurance and the broader academic life of the College

This position is open to domestic and international candidates. Relocation and visa support is available.

About You

You are an emerging or established researcher and educator with a strong commitment to excellence in both research and teaching. You are motivated to contribute to a growing mechanical engineering discipline and to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver meaningful educational and research outcomes.

You will demonstrate:

  • Completion of a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Evidence of, or capacity for, high-quality tertiary teaching, including curriculum development and topic coordination
  •  A strong research track record relative to career stage, including quality publications and a developing ability to attract external competitive grant funding
  • Experience in, or capacity for, supervision of Honours and/or Higher Degree by Research students
