Summary:
The Associate, Strength & Conditioning Coach plays a key role in the training and development of athletes within an integrated high-performance team. This mentorship driven position offers the opportunity to learn directly from experienced MLB Head and Assistant S&C Coaches while collaborating with Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Registered Dietitians, and Sports Scientists. Based out of Citi Field in New York, NY, the Associate Coach will gain hands-on experience in team training, individual rehabilitation, and performance programming while developing the foundational skills for future coaching opportunities in the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Work under the direct mentorship of the Head and Assistant S&C Coaches to design, implement, and refine individualized player development programs.
Support the delivery of training across movement preparation, linear and multidirectional speed, plyometrics, strength, power, and recovery.
Assist in developing and executing position-specific energy system development plans.
Exhibit a growth mindset - actively seeking opportunities to improve technical, tactical, and interpersonal coaching skills.
Foster a positive, team-first culture that prioritizes athlete development, collaboration, and communication.
Participate in athlete monitoring and data collection in collaboration with the Sports Science and Medical teams.
Support performance testing and ongoing player readiness assessments.
Contribute to the maintenance of player records and reports within the organization’s athlete management systems.
Engage in ongoing learning and reflection through feedback, education sessions, and peer collaboration.
Essential Position Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Exercise Science, Physiology, or related field.
NSCA CSCS and CPR/First Aid certification.
1+ years of full-time experience in a strength and conditioning, performance, or related role.
Experience working with athletes in a team setting (Professional or Division I preferred).
Competency in programming and coaching movement skills (linear and multidirectional).
Familiarity with energy system development and performance testing.
Evidence of ongoing professional development and education through workshops, certifications, and continued education.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with coaches, athletes, and performance staff.
Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and a desire to learn within a mentorship setting.
Must be able to work unconventional hours.
Desirable Position Requirements:
Experience working in baseball (Collegiate, MiLB, or MLB) or other elite sport environments.
Familiarity with athlete management systems, force plate systems, athlete positioning systems, velocity-based training equipment, and load cell/strain gauge-based testing devices.
