Global Technical Solutions in Puerto Rico is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CO-OP student to support our Technical Publications team. This role provides hands-on experience in technical writing, documentation development, and aerospace/defense publication standards. The CO-OP student will work under the guidance of experienced Technical Writers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to help transform complex engineering information into clear, user-friendly technical documentation.

Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, is a leader in advanced aerospace and defense solutions. Through this Internship opportunity, students will contribute to meaningful projects while learning how technical documentation supports critical systems used by the U.S. warfighter and global customers.

Candidates must reside in Puerto Rico during the Internship period.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist in researching, analyzing, and organizing engineering and technical source data for use in manuals and technical publications.

  • Support the development and revision of technical documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Collaborate with engineers, senior technical writers, and other SMEs to gather and clarify technical information.

  • Help review engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and software/hardware documentation under supervision.

  • Apply established documentation standards, templates, and procedures to ensure quality and consistency.

  • Participate in document reviews and incorporate feedback from team members and stakeholders.

  • Assist with preparing outlines, updates, and basic project tracking information.

  • Learn and apply industry documentation standards and best practices (e.g., implified Technical English, ATA, S1000D, where applicable).

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or a related field.

  • Design Portfolio: A digital portfolio showcasing projects that demonstrate your design process, from initial research and sketches to high-fidelity mockups.

  • Technical Proficiency: Foundational knowledge of industry-standard design tools, specifically Figma.

  • User-Centric Mindset: An understanding of UX principles, including user research methodologies, information architecture, and usability testing.

  • Visual Design Skills: An eye for typography, color theory, layout, and a commitment to maintaining visual consistency within a design system.

  • Communication & Collaboration: The ability to articulate your design decisions clearly and a willingness to iterate based on feedback from peers and stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving: A curious and analytical approach to identifying user pain points and creating elegant, functional solutions.

  • Design System Knowledge: Understanding of design system concepts, including working with reusable components, style libraries, and maintaining visual consistency across multiple screens.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
