Summary of Duties:

As a Student Services Counselor, you’ll be the go-to resource for students, parents, faculty, and staff seeking guidance on financial aid and scholarships. You’ll play a key role in helping students navigate their educational journey by providing clear, compassionate, and accurate advice.

In this role, you will:

  • Advise and support students on all aspects of Student Financial Services, including financial aid, scholarships, and related processes.

  • Use your expertise in needs analysis, professional judgment, and award adjustments to ensure students receive the assistance they need.

  • Serve as a liaison between our office and other campus departments to resolve questions and streamline services.

  • Engage in outreach activities by representing Student Financial Services at recruitment events, resource fairs, and presentations to diverse audiences.

  • Contribute to our mission by delivering exceptional service that reflects our office’s vision, values, and the university’s goals.

Additional Information:

This is a full (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $3,750.85 - $4,574.21 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

  • Experience in customer service.

  • Experience working with diverse populations.

  • Developed skills in written and verbal communication, including experience with large group presentations.

  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends/evenings.

  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently.

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting rules and regulations.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with student services in a higher education setting.

  • Bilingual/Bi-literate in English and Spanish.

  • Experience working with PeopleSoft

  • Master's Degree in a related field

  • Experience working in Financial Aid and Scholarships, Admissions, Student Accounts, Academic Advising, Registrar, Graduate School, Athletics and/or Housing & Dining.
