About Target’s Merchandising Operations Team

Merchandising Operations exists to be Target’s center of excellence for merchandising execution. We bring merchandising strategy to life through flawless execution, predictable outcomes, and operational rigor -enabling our buyers to focus on trends, strategy, and the guest.

The team delivers best-in-class operational solutions across the merchandising ecosystem, including vendor onboarding and learning, supplier performance assessment, compliance, and reliability. By strengthening both vendor-facing and buyer-facing operations, Merch Ops ensures clarity, consistency, and scale while elevating the vendor experience and supporting strong business outcomes.

We are building a new, modern Merchandising Operations organization designed to scale with Target’s growth. This team plays a critical role in shaping new ways of working and raising the bar for how merchandising execution happens at Target.

Merch Specialist, Merchandising Operations (L2)

Target’s Merchandising Operations team is building a center of excellence focused on delivering accurate, timely, and reliable merchandising execution at scale. As a Merch Specialist (L2), you’ll support our buying teams by executing standard, repeatable operational work with a strong focus on quality, detail, and turnaround time.

In this role, you’ll own defined daily and weekly operational workflows, meet service-level expectations, and flag issues early to prevent downstream impacts. You’ll perform basic quality checks, log and escalate exceptions, and contribute to knowledge capture and process clarity. During peak periods, you’ll also support surge work across divisions as prioritized by team leads.

This role is ideal for someone early in their operations career who enjoys structured work, clear processes, and being part of a team that values accuracy, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute standard merchandising operations workflows accurately and on time
• Meet defined SLAs for quality and turnaround time
• Perform basic quality checks and ensure alignment to documented SOPs
• Identify, log, and escalate exceptions or missing inputs to senior team members
• Support cross-division surge work during peak volume periods
• Update trackers and contribute to process documentation and SOP improvements

What You Bring

• 0–2 years of experience in operations, retail support, merchandising, or supply chain
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Ability to manage time effectively and work in queue-based environments
• Clear written communication for handoffs and escalations
• Basic spreadsheet skills and comfort learning new tools

• Exposure to SLAs, KPIs, or basic quality checks
