Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Test Engineer is responsible for performance, verification, and qualification testing of new and existing industrial inverter and converter product lines. This role involves test planning and execution across analog, digital, and three-phase power converter systems, while also supporting laboratory operations. The engineer designs and implements efficient, cost-effective test methods, develops fixtures and test programs, analyzes results, and partners closely with development and design engineers to ensure the release of high-quality, compliant products.

Job Responsibilities:

Product Testing & Validation

  • Execute circuit- and product-level testing to verify performance against specifications for industrial inverters, converters, and related power electronics products.
  • Develop and maintain verification & validation (V&V) plans, qualification test plans, procedures, and reports for new products.
  • Design, build, and maintain test fixtures, equipment, and automated or semi-automated test setups.
  • Analyze test data, document results, and provide clear conclusions and improvement recommendations.

Engineering Involvement

  • Collaborate with development and design engineers throughout the product lifecycle—from concept evaluation and prototyping to qualification and release.
  • Troubleshoot of design and system-level issues in the lab and, when required, in customer-related problem solving.
  • Review and interpret electrical schematics, layouts, and simulations for power systems and subsystems.

Laboratory & Safety

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with electrical safety, high-voltage, and rotating machinery practices.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and readiness for testing activities.
  • Plan testing resources, including labor, schedules, and equipment, for standard and special test programs.

Tools, Systems & Documentation

  • Utilize a wide range of test and development instrumentations, including:
  • Digital oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • EMC receivers, surge/fast transient testers
  • LCR meters, spectrum analyzers, power supplies
  • Dynamometers, environmental chambers, torque transducers, tachometers
  • Use computer systems and business tools (e.g., SAP) to collect, manage, and transfer engineering data.
  • Maintain accurate, well-structured experimental records and test documentation.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, standards, and procedures, including Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Information Protection, ISO 9000/14001, and applicable government regulations (health, safety, quality, and environmental).
  • Continuously develop technical skills and stay current with new testing technologies and methodologies relevant to power electronics.

Educational Qualifications/ WorkExperience:

Technical Scope

  • Power electronics and motor control systems, including:
  • High-voltage power systems
  • IGBTs, SCRs, bus capacitors
  • Analog circuits and SMPS
  • Thermal design and analysis
  • AC/DC magnetics and LCL filter design
  • EMC testing and troubleshooting
  • Sensor and motor feedback acquisition systems

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or Embedded Systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with industrial variable frequency motor drives or related power electronics products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, Mentor Graphics PADS, Altium Designer).
  • Familiarity with high-speed signal integrity analysis and simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of qualification testing standards and compliance requirements (e.g., UL 61800, EMC standards).
  • Understanding of PLC systems and basic ladder logic programming.
  • Familiarity with CAN, SCAN, Industrial Ethernet, or other industrial communication protocols.

Language Skills

Proficient English skills (speaking, reading, and writing) required.
