Loop earplugs

Product Design Engineering Lead

Antwerp, BE; Amsterdam, NL Full Time

We are Loop

Loop Earplugs is reinventing how people experience the world by enabling them to live life at their own volume. 2024 was a pivotal year at Loop – we hit 14,000,000 earplugs sold, were named ‘The Best Earplugs for Concerts’ by The New York Times, and expanded our product offering to a complete range of solutions for day and night. Oh – and not to mention making history as the first company to win Deloitte’s Fast 50 Belgium twice.

But this is just the beginning. As we continue to develop disruptive products, we’re constantly on the lookout for the next big idea - and building a team who can make it happen.

Being a Looper means making a difference. Whatever your role, this is your stage to make a real impact and bring your ideas to life. Better yet, you’ll join a fast-growing, global team of 250+ people who are passionate, down-to-earth and eager to tackle challenges together.

Product Design Engineering Lead

5+ years Mechanical Product Design experience | Hybrid | Antwerp | Amsterdam

From first prototype to mass production. You own it.

As Product Design Engineering Lead, you drive the mechanical development of Loop’s hardware products from first concept to mass production. You operate as the technical lead within cross functional squads, translating product requirements into manufacturable, reliable, high performing mechanical systems. You combine strong mechanical foundations with sharp attention to detail and turn ideas into hardware that works at scale.

Build the architecture. Own the outcome.

You own the development and execution of the mechanical architecture across proof of concept prototypes, EVT, DVT, and PVT builds. Performance and robustness are built in early and protected through scale. Depending on team structure, you either directly own CAD or oversee it, ensuring strong modeling standards and disciplined processes.

You prototype to prove function and validate decisions through FEA and tolerance analysis. Design for Manufacturability is embedded from the start to ensure reliability and mass production readiness.

When build issues arise, you lead a clear and structured root cause process. Risks across technical scope, timing, or cost are spotted early, solved within the team where possible, and escalated when needed, keeping progress steady and everyone aligned.

Your other responsibilities:
  • Drive engineering sprints enabling PRD lock, vendor selection, and gate reviews
  • Translate the PRD into a clear Engineering Requirements Document guiding detailed design
  • Facilitate strong collaboration across Industrial Design, UX, Operations, Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Mechanical Engineering
  • Guide cross functional technical decisions and ensure well reasoned trade offs aligned with long term program goals

How you’ll succeed as a Product Design Engineering Lead

You bring strong problem solving skills and sharp attention to detail. Challenges are approached with structured root causing and clear thinking. You are comfortable driving cross functional decisions and writing requirements that give engineering work clear direction. Technical status, risks, and mitigation plans are communicated openly and proactively. Ownership comes naturally, with a consistently high bar for quality and reliability.

These key competences will set you up for success:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical product design, ideally in consumer electronics or hardware
  • Proficiency in CAD tools, including experience with Creo and Windchill, plus engineering analysis
  • Experience with FEA, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturability
  • Experience writing requirements and driving cross-functional technical decisions

Still listening?

Good. Because building mechanical systems that start as ideas and end up performing in the real world is something special. If you’re ready to carry that journey end to end, this might be your next move. If that sounds like you, apply and let’s talk.
