What you’ll be doing

The Senior Manager, Legal Entity Regulatory Reporting (Compliance Management and Controls) - is responsible for the effective sustainment and enhancement of the regulatory controls supporting    the Legal Entity Regulatory Reporting team, and is the primary support for the Oversight Function (OF) responsibilities for the teams in accordance with the Regulatory Control Management (RCM) Framework.   The Senior manager will provide controls expertise in designing, enhancing  and documenting applicable controls effectively and efficiently within the Legal Entity Regulatory Reporting team, and in monitoring the impact of the control environments in upstream teams on the Legal Entity Regulatory Reporting.

How you’ll succeed

  • Relationship management ­– Build strong business relationships with stakeholders such as Regulatory Compliance, Global Operational Risk Management and the Technology and Operations groups by leveraging relationship management and collaboration skills to make an impact.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence – Ability to communicate requirements effectively, escalate issues on a timely basis and manage stakeholders towards a set of common objectives. 

  • Regulatory compliance management – Identify controls that require documentary enhancement and work with stakeholders to support the quality of control documentation related to Regulatory Compliance. Work within the team to identify and document improvements and changes to the Regulatory Requirement Library.

  • Internal control management - Be the subject matter expert on Internal Control structure (types etc.). Identify areas of improvement, efficiencies and possible control deficiencies and work with stakeholders to develop and implement corrective actions. Participate in audits and reviews on regulatory internal controls.

  • Control Assessment - Carry out risk rating assessments for review with Compliance and GORM annually. Partner with internal colleagues (such as the SOX Maintenance Officer (SOMO) for Finance) to ensure an adequate control environment for regulatory reporting risks. Prepare recommendations for Accountable Officer attestations as they relate to RCM. Escalate potential issues to appropriate management level depending on severity. Monitor results of RCM control testing and support colleagues in effectively remediating regulatory issues and deficiencies.

  • Management reporting - Generate meaningful and timely reporting for Management on the progress of the review of controls and Regulatory Group Topic documents and track and maintain line of sight of the work required.

Who you are

  • You have a working knowledge of internal control programs including 5+ years of experience in financial services. Knowledge of Canadian regulatory reporting regulations (e.g.  CIRO, OSFI, CDIC, Bank of Canada, Stats Canada etc.) would be an advantage

  • You have experience with a Regulatory Compliance Management Program. You understand internal controls, including how to identify and document them appropriately.
