Surgery GeneralJob Duties
Assist with the implementation of cutting-edge research projects in the field of pancreatic cancer with a focus on pathophysiology, molecular signaling pathways, inflammation, and therapeutics.
Work independently on research tasks assigned by the principal investigator and other faculty members in the laboratory.
Handle pancreatic cancer mouse models by following laboratory protocols.
Perform molecular and cell biology techniques, such as DNA and RNA extractions, RT-PCR immunoblot analysis, immunofluorescence staining and tissue culture.
Assist with tasks associated with the development of grant proposals and additional funding needs of the laboratory.
Maintain a current laboratory notebook, documenting all calculations, work, experiments, and other pertinent research information.
Maintain lab cleanliness and adhere to safety protocols.
Maintain inventory of study supplies and support ordering processes.

Required Qualifications
Work Experience:
Four years of relevant work experience in a basic science laboratory. Relevant education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Experience in relevant laboratory techniques (such as, cell culture, animal models, and molecular biology techniques).
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Masters degree in biological sciences.
Work Experience: Experience in cancer related pancreatitis research.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
