As the Project Design Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of transforming ideas into reality. Your mission is to drive facility process improvements, spearhead continuous improvement initiatives, implement new processes, and manage impactful capital projects. You’ll design advanced manufacturing processes and equipment, oversee the installation of critical systems and structures, and tackle challenges during commissioning with expert debugging and troubleshooting.

Collaboration is key—you’ll work closely with a talented team of engineers to turn conceptual designs into precise fabrication and installation drawings using AutoCAD to maximize efficiency and accuracy. Beyond engineering documentation, you’ll provide innovative engineered solutions and recommendations that shape the future of our operations. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise and creativity will make a measurable difference.

You will report directly to the Engineering Manager, gaining mentorship and guidance while playing a pivotal role in projects that define our success.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the charge on capital projects—from installation and supervision to start-up and troubleshooting, ensuring everything runs flawlessly.
  • Design innovative mechanical systems including advanced process equipment, pollution control solutions, and precision piping layouts.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to seamlessly integrate electrical utilities and control systems into your designs, coordinating through successful start-up.
  • Own the procurement process by writing detailed equipment and construction specifications, evaluating bids, and making strategic purchase recommendations.
  • Transform concepts into reality by implementing new system designs from initial idea to finished drawings, fabrication, and installation.
  • Deliver complete project packages—drawings, specifications, and equipment information—ensuring every detail is ready for execution.

Compensation:

  • $83,715.00 - $94,511.00
  • Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Project Design Engineer I is an entry level position requiring 0-5 years of experience.
  • A minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.  MS or MBA is preferred.
  • Basic project management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated AutoCAD minimum competency for both design and drafting.
  • Computer Skills:  Excel, Word, PowerPoint as a minimum.
  • Self-starter with interest in understanding mechanical design in a dynamic manufacturing environment.  Requires hands on design approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
