Project Manager Discovery

Gent, Belgium Full time

Join us as we transform immunology and deliver medicines that help autoimmune patients get their lives back. argenx is preparing for multi-dimensional expansion to reach more patients through a rich pipeline of differentiated assets, led by VYVGART, our first-in-class neonatal Fc receptor blocker approved for the treatment of gMG, and with the potential to treat patients across dozens of severe autoimmune diseases.

We are building a new kind of biotech company, one that maintains its roots as a science-based start-up and pushes our commitment to innovate across all corners of our business. We strive to inspire and grow our company, our partnerships, our science, and our people, because when we do, we deliver more for patients.

To coordinate and streamline managerial activities within the organization, we are currently looking for a Project Manager Discovery to join our dynamic Discovery organization in Gent/Zwijnaarde. This position is an ideal fit for someone with a PhD and early (1-3 years) experience in project management within an industry setting—especially those who thrive outside rigid matrix structures and prefer a hands-on, pragmatic approach to driving progress.

This position requires an on-site presence in the office in Zwijnaarde (Ghent, Belgium) of at least 4 days/week.
In addition to your CV, we would like to receive a short and clear motivation for this role.

What you’ll do

You will streamline Discovery project execution by handling the day‑to‑day operational backbone—planning, tracking, documentation and onboarding— facilitating our project teams to focus on advancing new molecules through the company’s pipeline without added complexity. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Project Planning & Coordination
    • Manage timelines and deliverables across multiple discovery projects and coordinate teams and team meetings to smoothen internal decision-making.
    • Maintain high-level overview of project goals.
    • Lead FTE planning and resource allocation in partnership with project leaders and management to optimize delivery.
    • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration by ensuring information flows seamlessly between scientific, operational and leadership teams.

  • Workflow Optimization
    • Proactively identify bottlenecks and opportunities to simplify workflows; implement practical, lean improvements that speed up decisions and execution.
    • Standardize lightweight practices (such as meeting schedules, templates, decision records) that reduce operational burden on project teams.

  • Knowledge Retention & Onboarding
    • Capture and structure learnings, decisions, and key assumptions to strengthen organizational memory in our project-based setup.
    • Design and maintain onboarding materials and playbooks that accelerate newcomer ramp‑up and minimize rework.

  • Team Leadership
    • Organize and lead Discovery team meetings (agenda, pre‑reads, decision logs, action tracking).
    • Drive transparent communication and foster a culture of accountability and proactive problem-solving.
    • Ensure clear, timely communication of project status, risk and decision to stakeholders at all levels.

Profile

  • PhD in life sciences or related field, with 1-3 years of experience in project management in an industry context.
  • A can‑do mindset: anticipates needs, brings structure, and acts with urgency while keeping things simple.
  • Displays a genuine scientific curiosity and interest to grasp the high-level biology of ongoing projects, enabling you to identify synergies and foster connections across initiatives.
  • Thrives in an empowered, lean environment with clear ownership and efficient decision‑making.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational, communication and stakeholder management skills; confident facilitating cross‑functional teams. A collaborative attitude and willingness to be the go-to person for operational guidance and documentation.
  • Fluent in English, our working language.

Offer

  • A full time position in a successful, dynamic, rapidly growing biotech company;
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • A stimulating environment that values initiative and empowers you to make an impact.
  • Onsite presence 4 days per week is required to ensure effective team dynamics.
