What we want

The Texas A&M University in the Department of Health Behavior Program Aide will assist the development, review, and implementation of advocacy training modules and advocacy programs for individuals with developmental disabilities and their family members (e.g., parents, caregivers, and siblings).

Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.   

Schedule: Part-Time

Required education and experience

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Psychology, Special Education, or a closely related field
  • 5 years of experience in special education to include experience in coordinating programs or supporting projects in education, disability development, or autism services and working in a school district for students with special needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in special education and developmental disability

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to design and deliver training programs to meet the needs of their audiences

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Reviews content of advocacy training modules for individuals with developmental disabilities and their family members

  • Develops and revises curricula and educational resources to align with best practices and evidence-based approaches

  • Provides feedback and recommendations to improve the design and the content, as well as the delivery of the advocacy training modules

  • Helps pilot and implement training modules
