Job Summary
This is a critical, senior-most individual contributor role designed for a top-tier recruiting expert. As a Principal Clinician Recruiter, you will serve as a subject matter expert, strategic partner, and team mentor. This position is the premier growth track for non-people leaders within the recruiting organization.
Your scope expands significantly beyond full-cycle recruiting to include owning recruiter onboarding and training programs, coaching and mentoring senior and junior recruiters, and contributing to long-range recruitment strategies. You will partner directly with Regional and Department Leaders to drive goal alignment, impact HCS business line volume and revenue targets, and provide high-level metrics and reporting.
While you will maintain a small portfolio of the nation's most critical requisitions, your primary focus will be on elevating the entire team's performance and ensuring our recruitment strategy is aligned with long-term business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Onboarding, Training & Mentorship
Design, implement, and manage the onboarding, training, and coaching programs for all new and existing clinician recruiters.
Act as a formal mentor and role model for Recruiter and Senior Recruiter-level teammates, providing guidance on complex negotiations, sourcing challenges, and stakeholder management.
Develop and refine best practices, playbooks, and training materials to elevate the skill set of the entire recruiting function.
Act as the primary escalation point for the team on complex requisitions or candidate issues.
2. Expert Full-Cycle Recruiting & Pipeline Management
Personally own and manage a small portfolio of the most complex, high-priority, or executive-level clinician searches in our most critical markets.
Develop and maintain a sustainable, "evergreen" nationwide pipeline of qualified providers by utilizing advanced sourcing tools (e.g., cold calling, database sources, internet searches, leads, and referrals).
Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key clinicians and industry leaders.
Serve as the foremost expert on both 1099 independent contractor and W2 employee engagement models, guiding both candidates and junior teammates.
3. Strategy & Program Leadership
Develop and implement comprehensive, long-range strategies for physician and provider recruitment to support all regions and business lines.
Partner with Regional Leaders and senior department stakeholders to drive goal alignment, ensuring recruitment efforts directly support business-critical volume and revenue targets.
Analyze, create, and present performance measures, metrics, and high-level reporting to recruiting and business line leadership.
Lead cross-functional, strategic projects related to talent acquisition, (e.g., new market entry, technology implementation, process improvement).
Serve as the subject matter expert on the competitive landscape, including comprehensive knowledge of medical specialties, compensation trends, and sourcing strategies.
Education & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of progressive, full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably in healthcare, medical, or a related high-volume field.
Demonstrated experience in leading recruitment strategies, developing training programs, or formal mentorship is required.
Expert-level knowledge and proven success in recruiting for 1099 independent contractor and/or W2 employee models is required.

Strategic & Analytical: Ability to move beyond executing requisitions to developing long-term strategies. Skilled in using data to drive decisions and create performance report-outs.
Communication & Negotiation: Expert-level consultation, negotiation, and closing skills.
Business Acumen: Deep understanding of how talent acquisition drives business outcomes, including revenue and volume targets.
Adaptability & Urgency: The ability to manage complex, high-priority assignments with a profound sense of urgency, autonomy, and resilience.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$75,400.00 - $165,954.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
