Alpine Laser, a division of Machine Solutions, specializes in the design and manufacturing of precision laser processing workstations for medical device manufacturing. Our systems support laser tube cutting, micromachining, ablation, drilling, and welding of critical components such as stents, hypotubes, and catheters.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Machine Builder is responsible for the assembly, integration, and testing of complex mechanical and electromechanical laser workstations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring systems are built to specification, meet quality standards, and are ready for internal testing and customer delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mechanical and electromechanical assembly of laser workstations including frames, motion systems, tooling, and fixturing
  • Integrate pre-built electrical control panels into machine systems and complete all system-level wiring and connections
  • Route, terminate, and label electrical wiring, cables, and pneumatic lines with a high level of precision and organization
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, bills of materials, and assembly instructions
  • Perform system-level testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • Collaborate with engineering and applications teams to resolve build issues and improve system designs
  • Maintain accurate build records and documentation throughout the assembly process
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to assembly processes, quality, and efficiency
  • Assist with panel building and other manufacturing tasks as needed

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  ·3–5+ years building or assembling machines in a manufacturing environment, experience in medtech or machine manufacturing is highly preferred.

  • ·Associate degree or technical certificate preferred; equivalent hands-on experience considered

  • ·Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

  • ·Familiarity with motion systems, servo drives, and electromechanical integration

  • ·Strong attention to detail and a high personal standard for workmanship

  • ·Bonus: Understanding and application of industry standards (NEC, NFPA 79, IEC, CE, etc.) 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings, customer specifications, professional journals, application reports, or governmental regulations (e.g., FDA/ISO standards).

  • Ability to write clear technical reports, application summaries, business correspondence, and procedure documentation.

  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, sales teams, and customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

With or without reasonable accommodation, the role requires frequent standing, sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle/feel/reach, crouching, kneeling, crawling, and occasional stooping. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Vision requirements include ability to adjust focus and identify/distinguish colors (critical for part inspection and laser alignment/safety).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Primary work is performed in a hands-on manufacturing and assembly environment building complex laser systems. The role involves working around mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, and automation equipment, including use of hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment.  The environment includes moderate noise levels typical of a production floor, with activity from machine builds, testing, and material handling. Work may involve standing for extended periods, moving between build stations, and interacting closely with partially assembled machines and components. The position requires attention to safety when working with electrical systems, moving parts, and compressed air/pneumatic systems. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required as needed.
