The Department of Counseling, Health, and Kinesiology is seeking applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track appointment for an Instructional Assistant Professional Track Faculty of Counselor Education. Currently, Texas A&M University- San Antonio is experiencing enormous growth and is in the process of developing a growing 700-acre campus located on the Southside of San Antonio. The Counselor Education program is a robust academic unit with an active faculty devoted to teaching, service, scholarship, and professional development. Work hours vary by semester and in alignment with the faculty members’ teaching schedule. Applicants must have a professional identity and work experience grounded in professional counseling or related educational field.
Responsibilities:
Teach graduate classes in the Counselor Education degree programs (i.e., Clinical Mental Health, School, and Marriage Couple and Family Counseling; School Counseling).
Fulfill service responsibilities to the Department of Counseling, Health, and Kinesiology and the University.
Participate in professional development through engagement and interaction within professional associations and other relevant activities.
Work in collaboration with other colleagues in the Department of Counseling, Health, and Kinesiology and community partners.
Provide group supervision of practicum and internship students.
Maintain relevant licensure and/or certification related to professionalization as a counselor.
Required Education and Experience:
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counseling or Counselor Education and Supervision.
18 graduate hours in each field in which candidate will teach.
Evidence of teaching, service, and professional development potential/productivity.
Applicants must have a professional identity and work experience grounded in counseling or related educational field.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Graduate of a CACREP-accredited program.
Teaching experience in higher education that includes advising, mentoring, and supervising graduate students.
Membership and active participation in professional counseling organizations.
A strong professional identity grounded in counseling or related educational field.
Three years of work experience in an area commensurate with academic specialty.
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and/or Professional School Counselor (PSC) and/or related licensure/certification.
