About the Role

Within the GPS organisation, the Strategy team plays a pivotal role in shaping BlackRock's strategic direction and driving initiatives that enhance our competitive position and growth. This role is an Associate-level hire for the APAC GPS Strategy team, based in Hong Kong.

The role involves partnering with other teams across GPS and the broader organisation to anticipate where our clients, and the people they serve, are going and how BlackRock can best deliver on their needs. With an emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving and a core strategy mindset, members on the team works closely with the APAC GPS leadership to set the long-term direction as well as the short-medium term priorities for the business. The role offers an excellent platform for impact by working on our most pressing questions at the heart of the GPS business, providing you the opportunity to challenge the business and help us set its direction. You’ll be part of a high-performing and deeply collaborative team, in a role that is both highly strategic and fast-paced, making it an excellent opportunity for someone with a dynamic and enterprising mindset. We are seeking an individual who can operate across strategy development, executive communication and execution coordination, helping ensure that APAC GPS priorities are well-articulated, well-sequenced, and effectively delivered. The role offers significant exposure to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Development & Business Analytics

• Support the development of APAC GPS strategic priorities across iShares, Active, Private Markets and product commercialization capabilities, in alignment with Global GPS and BLK APAC objectives.

• Conduct market, competitor, and client segment analysis to inform product strategy, commercialization priorities, and resource allocation.

• Build clear, data-backed business cases for new initiatives.

• Translate ambiguous strategic questions into structured analyses and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.

Market Intelligence & Insights

• Conduct market, competitor, and performance analysis to identify and track trends and opportunities.

• Curate and effectively synthesize industry and competitive intelligence for senior leadership.

• Navigate complex datasets to extract insights that support strategic decision-making.

Leadership Enablement & Communication

• Support effective execution of strategic priorities and provide leverage to the Head of APAC GPS and the APAC GPS Leadership Team.

• Prepare executive-level materials (Executive Committee materials, leadership talking points, strategy memos, briefing notes) for internal and global forums.

• Support agenda-setting and follow-through for key leadership meetings, offsites and discussions, ensuring decisions translate into action.

• Support internal communications to senior APAC and Global stakeholders, ensuring consistency of messaging and clarity of priorities.

Required Skills / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with a strong academic track record.

• 3–6 years of experience in strategy, management consulting, business management, or a related role within financial services or asset management.

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights.

• Demonstrated ability to work with senior stakeholders and produce executive-level written and presentation materials.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate objectives, synthesize complex topics, and produce concise, executive-ready briefings and deliverables; confident, concise, and structured.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in parallel.

• Ability to anticipate and react quickly to shifting demands or priorities. Able to “zoom in” and “zoom out” as needed – rolling up sleeves while also operating at the strategic level where required.

• Be ready and willing to read and react to the needs of the business with short notice.

• Be a student of the markets: fascinated by how innovative firms can help their clients invest in their financial futures.
