Position Title: Education Support Officer (ESO)
Classification: Education Schools General Staff Award, Level 3
Location: Riverview
Status: Part-Time, Permanent – Hours and days will vary according to school requirements during term time, with stand-down during term breaks.
Salary will be in line with award rates and reflective of the successful applicant’s skills and experience.

About the Role
The Salvation Army is seeking a qualified and committed Education Support Officer (ESO) to join a collaborative teaching team dedicated to supporting students in achieving their personal best.
Working closely and proactively with teaching staff, the ESO will provide learning support in classroom, small group, and one-to-one environments, contributing to improved learning outcomes for students.
How You Will Make an Impact
Deliver learning support to students in classroom, small-group, and individual settings under the direction of the classroom teacher (Years 10–12, depending on school needs).
Promote and encourage a growth mindset in students.
Monitor, model, and support students’ social and emotional development, including contributing to positive behaviour plans.
Maintain accurate school records in accordance with TSA procedures and relevant legislation.
Assist with NCCD data collection.
Participate in relevant training, professional development, and regular supervision sessions.
Carry out additional duties as directed by the leadership team.
What You Will Bring
Relevant ESO qualifications—e.g., Certificate III or IV in Education Support, or equivalent.
Experience working with students disengaged from mainstream schooling, with the ability to re-engage and motivate them toward education or training pathways.
An understanding of the effects of trauma on young people and its impact on learning.
Experience supporting students in Years 7–12 (depending on school needs).
