Job Description:
We are looking for a Components Engineer with solid experience in metallic manufacturing technologies (machining, sheet metal, piping, and welding) to ensure the successful industrialization of components at suppliers. The role requires strong leadership, autonomy, and cross-functional coordination between Airbus and supplier industrial teams.
This position is based in Sevilla within Airbus Defence and Space, and may involve occasional travel to international suppliers (e.g. India or UAE) for the development of industrial offset projects.
Tasks & accountabilities
Lead industrialization of new metallic components and modifications (machined parts, welded assemblies, sheet metal, and piping), ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and schedule (OTOCOQ).
Act as the technical and industrial focal point for supplier manufacturing topics, being the interface between internal Airbus functions (Procurement, Design, Quality, ME) and the supplier.
Ensure configuration management and technical consistency of subcontracted components.
Assess supplier industrial capabilities, including process validation, capacity, and robustness of manufacturing flows.
Evaluate costing, workload estimations, and provide input for RFPs and make/buy decisions.
Support continuous improvement initiatives at suppliers to enhance productivity, cost performance and the reduction of non-conformities in the supply chain.
Coordinate and support MRB (Material Review Board) activities, including the objective of obtaining and maintaining RP3 certification.
Ensure knowledge capitalization and lessons learned for metallic technologies within Airbus D&S.
Promote ethical and compliant practices in all supplier interactions, in line with the Airbus Code of Conduct.
Required Skills & Experience
Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Aeronautical Engineering (or equivalent).
Proven experience in metallic manufacturing processes (machining, welding, piping, and/or sheet metal).
Previous experience working directly with suppliers or in a supplier quality / industrialization / manufacturing engineering role.
Strong capability to lead projects autonomously and coordinate cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of industrial methods and tools (SAP, Demat, SNT, or similar).
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
Willingness to travel internationally when required.
Nice to Have
Experience with industrial transfer or offset projects.
Familiarity with composite and assembly manufacturing technologies (added value).
MRB delegation or exposure to non-conformance management processes.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
