Position Summary

A career in Compliance and Standards will provide the opportunity to assess compliance of the overall organization. Role may coordinate and conduct the assessment of internal controls to ensure compliance as required by regulatory commissions/ authorities. This may include developing programs and processes to manage complaint cases brought to regulatory authorities and developing process improvements to avoid future complaints. Additionally, this role may meet with external business and align corporate strategy with compliance standards and procedures.

Roles within Compliance and Standards are responsible for compliance, standards, training, reporting for regulatory requirements, operating procedures management, and rules and procedures that the organization as a whole, as well as all employees, must comply with. Records management teams are also responsible for housing all physical measurement copies that outline pipes and infrastructure so field services can locate appropriate infrastructure when needed.

This position may also be responsible for interpreting laws and government regulations affecting the operation of the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Compile and analyze data from various sources pertaining to Compliance measures for multiple gas utilities. This data is then submitted to New Jersey's Board of Public Utilities to satisfy regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Innovate with Share Point, Microsoft Power BI and Excel to create valuable metrics and produce clear, concise dashboards
  • Identify and communicate errors with raw information to database specialists, ensuring accurate data is being displayed
  • Collaborate with departments across the company to modernize reporting methods
  • Automate departmental processes using Microsoft SharePoint
  • Performing (under some supervision) assigned tasks that support day-to-day activities and project goals
  • Following appropriate methods and techniques in performing tasks and preparing related reports
  • Collaborating with supervisory personnel to develop routine methods
  • Recommending alternatives, examining new methods and techniques and possibly proactively seeking out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problems
  • Participating in group meetings. Possibly presenting results of work, interpreting data, and drawing conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work

This role will develop professional expertise and apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Employees will work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. It is expected that employee will exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

Additionally, employees will build productive internal/external working relationships.

It is expected that your role applies intermediate level skills to projects or assignments within own group/project team. You will receive general instructions on routine work and receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Your role typically reports to Managers.

The level and nature of interaction of your role includes: Working under direct guidance on a component of a project, interacting primarily within the job family. This is a role that contributes through own efforts and application of expertise, skills, or tasks.

Qualifications

Required Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0 years of relevant experience,
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Preferred Background:

  • A degree in business, construction management, engineering or a similar discipline
  • Prior experience in performing statistical or operational analysis and reporting. 
  • Familiar with the development of statistical applications through prior work experience or formal education.
  • Experience or understanding of utility related work processes is desirable

Required Skills:

  • Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple groups in order to resolve issues.
  • Must be an effective and independent problem solver, with the ability to handle multiple assignments and to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency with programs and applications, e.g.  MS Office.  Ability to work with other PC/Web based applications.

    Compensation Range:

    $50,250 - 80,400

    We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate’s qualifications, education, and experience.
