Government Relations Intern

Summary

This internship offers hands-on exposure to US public policy and advocacy, helping to shape policy outcomes that help our business to thrive. You’ll contribute to legislative tracking, stakeholder engagement, and briefing materials that inform senior leadership decisions. You’ll also support a cross-functional geopolitical task force, helping assess policy risks and opportunities across markets. In return, you’ll gain real-world experience, mentorship, and a clear understanding of how government relations drives impact.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Monitor federal and state legislative/regulatory developments; draft concise summaries and alerts.

  • Support policy research and analysis; develop briefing notes, talking points, and stakeholder maps.

  • Assist with coalition outreach, meetings, and event preparation; capture actions and follow-ups.

  • Contribute to the geopolitical task force: synthesize policy trends, prepare risk/opportunity memos, and coordinate cross-functional inputs.

  • Support internal communications and leadership updates, including with the JHPAC.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in public policy, political science, international relations, economics, law, or related field.

  • 0–1 years of experience in policy research, legislative tracking, or public affairs (coursework/internships acceptable).

  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to financial services or insurance policy topics (e.g., retirement, healthcare, regulation).

  • Basic understanding of geopolitical risk analysis and its intersection with policy.

  • Comfort with AI tools, including Microsoft Office 365.

  • Prior internship or campus leadership in government relations, public affairs, or think tank/policy research.
