About the Role:
This Teaching Specialist (Academic) position is responsible for contributing to the preparation and delivery of the College’s Foundations and Enabling topics, with a focus on the Maths and STEM areas using innovations in teaching practices and technologies, with support and guidance from a more senior academic to ensure Flinders University.
Your primary focus will be on teaching and teaching-related activities, while you play an important role in the University’s achievement of its strategic plan, Agenda 2035. The University is committed to a student-centred ethos and to developing creative, enterprising, career-ready graduates prepared to become lifelong contributors to society.
The position is also expected to make an independent contribution to high-quality university, professional and community service. Some of the key responsibilities include:
Create, coordinate and conduct lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops and assess students enrolled in Foundations and Enabling topics, with a focus on Maths and STEM of the College.
Provide support, academic counselling and professional advice to students concerning their studies, professional development and career opportunities
Assist in the development of topic and course materials (with appropriate guidance from Course Coordinators and/or Senior Academic Staff), and contribute to the planning and evaluation of these topics

About You
You will bring relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in teaching, with satisfactory completion of at least four years of tertiary study or an equivalent combination of qualifications and professional experience. The ability to contribute to engaging and effective learning environments is essential.
With proven experience teaching within a relevant discipline at the tertiary level, including the preparation and delivery of curriculum and the design and implementation of student assessments, you possess excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to establish
Completion of a PhD in Science Education or the field of teaching or active candidature towards a doctoral qualification (desirable).
