Wordings Technician

London Full time

Become an integral part of the team, supporting the underwriting business across all core, direct lines of business. Working with the Head of Wordings and other team members, you will be responsible for the review of slip policies and contract wordings, including ad-hoc drafting requests where required, to ensure that policy documentation aligns with underwriter intentions, regulatory requirements, and the wider underwriting strategy.

Main Duties:

  • Provide technical advice to underwriters on all wordings related matters.

  • Draft and review slip policies and contract wordings, including analysis and explanation of individual clauses, always with a focus on delivering a timely and commercial solution to any issue raised.

  • Assist the Head of Wordings, and other team members, with day-to-day wordings related tasks.

  • Raise the awareness of wording clauses and their impact on coverage to the wider business.

  • Lead reviews and amends on contract wordings in line with updates in Consumer Duty regulations.

  • Liaise with market peers and remaining fully abreast of market developments and trends.

  • Format and stylise newly drafted wordings, complying with relevant jurisdictional requirements and maintaining Chaucer branding.

Our Requirements:

  • Proven experience of working on policies and wordings in a London Market environment or experience of working in a legal and or regulatory environment.

  • Hybrid working (remote plus days in the office)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Experience of multiple Classes of Business Wordings.

  • Working knowledge of Standard Market Wordings, Clauses and Endorsements

  • Familiar with London Market Reform Initiatives, including Contract Certainty, Market Reform Slip, Lloyd’s Crystal Familiarity with market protocols and market guidance.
