Overview & Responsibilities

Overview:

To perform basic welding protocol to meet Elliott requirements and customer specifications in support of various turbo machinery. Able to perform rudimentary layouts and welding operations in a safe and timely manner. Requires a substantial level of supervision most of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times.

  • Promotes safety and quality at all times.

  • Able to work in a team environment.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Ability to read and interpret prints and drawings.

  • Ability to follow verbal commands and leadership direction.

  • Has rudimentary knowledge of welding and fabrication concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Average understanding of the use for tooling, drawings, work scopes, procedures, specifications and documentation to perform the primary function.

  • Ability to gain Elliott certification in weld processes such as TIG, MIG, submerged arc and heliarc.

  • Able to perform very basic weld repairs.

  • Basic understanding of stress relieving and non-destructive testing.

  • Basic understanding and ability to learn processes associated with turbo machinery such as inspection reports, photo logs, and hold tags.

  • Ability to operate forklifts and cranes along with other basic power tools needed.

  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

  • Accepts ownership over work performance and works to improve skill set.                 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency

  • 1-3 years’ experience with rotating turbo machinery

  • Weld knowledge basics and experience

  • Rigging capabilities

  • Measurement capabilities

  • Exposure to turbines, compressors and other rotating equipment

  • Experience with SubArc, AutoTIG, and laser welding is a strong advantage.
