The role 

The Web Production Editor role will involve assisting with the production and editing of articles, newsletters, social media posts and multimedia elements while maintaining a strong focus on detail and deadlines. Under the guidance of senior editors, the Junior Web Production Editor contributes to the seamless execution of editorial workflows and helps maintain the standard of content across online platforms.

Key responsibilities

  • Assists in writing and checking blurbs, captions and other textual content. Prepares and edits transcripts, adhering to FT style, voice and quality standard
  • Coordinates with news desks and editorial teams to support the creation and curation of images, graphics, video clips and other multimedia components
  • Assists in maintaining and updating website pages, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and consistency
  • Performs preliminary quality checks on content to identify and rectify errors in grammar, style, factual accuracy, or layout before final review
  • Works closely with senior editors and team members to ensure smooth workflows and timely content delivery
  • Supports editorial operations during weekends and holiday periods, as needed
  • Contributes to team discussions and offers suggestions for process improvements.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as instructed by the Team Leader and/or Manager

Required skills and experience 

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, with a strong grasp of grammar, style and tone. A degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field is an advantage.
  • Experience in copy editing and proofreading, with strong attention to detail and ability to identify and rectify errors in content
  • Proficiency in Adobe creative suite
  • Familiarity with editorial workflows and newsroom operations
  • Ability to write clear, concise and engaging copy suitable for digital platforms
  • Quick to adapt to new work processes, technologies and evolving editorial demands
  • Used to deadline pressure; can work fast yet maintain high quality of work
  • Willing to work on a variable shift schedule, including weekends and holidays
