THE JOB:
At Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay, the Water Quality Aquarist plays a vital role in protecting the health of our marine residents. In this position, you’ll support the animal care team by monitoring, analyzing, and documenting water quality to ensure the highest standard of care for our diverse collection of aquatic species.
THE STARTING RATE: $22.00
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Basic laboratory techniques; solution preparation, treatment calculation and measurements, analytical instrument usage and maintenance
Sample collecting and water analysis using a variety of instruments and methods
Maintain animal care logs; specifically, water quality, mortality, and quarantine databases
Assist the Curator, Lead Aquarist, Aquarists and Veterinarians in the husbandry and life support of aquarium systems and animal holdings; provides daily care of animals and exhibits
Manage Water Quality Lab and Veterinarian inventory(s)
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
1+ years of prior relevant experience in water quality
Experience with aquatic animal care in a professional aquarium environment is a plus
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Must be 18 years of age or older
