Director, Strategic Finance - Technology
Overview
We are seeking a strategic and execution-oriented finance leader to support our Technology organization as Director, Strategic Finance - Technology.
This role operates at the intersection of Strategic Finance, FinOps, and Business Operations, ensuring that technology investments are prioritized, efficient, and tightly aligned to business outcomes.
You will partner directly with Technology, Product, and Finance leadership to drive better decisions across one of the company’s largest and most complex areas of spend.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with CTO / CIO / Product leadership to prioritize technology investments
Support long-term strategy across areas such as platform modernization, data, and AI
Drive visibility into cloud, infrastructure, and SaaS cost drivers
Own the end-to-end modeling for our largest technology platforms (AWS, Azure, etc), translating granular usage data into accurate forecasts
Lead financial analysis supporting strategic capacity planning and cost optimization initiatives
Establish and scale FinOps practices:
Usage transparency
Cost allocation
Accountability across engineering teams
Automate insights by building real-time dashboards to give leadership visibility into spend
Lead initiatives to improve efficiency:
Rightsizing
Vendor optimization
Help establish a structured operating cadence across Technology:
Quarterly planning and prioritization
Resource allocation
Initiative tracking
Define and monitor key performance metrics:
Cost-to-serve
Engineering productivity
Unit economics
Ensure alignment across Product, Engineering, and Finance
Lead forecasting and planning for technology spend
Develop driver-based models and scenario analyses
Identify risks and opportunities and influence outcomes
Translate complex financial and technical topics into clear insights
Support materials and narratives for senior leadership
Qualifications
10+ years in Strategic Finance, Cloud Ops, FinOps, Consulting, or FP&A
You take an entrepreneurial approach, with high intellectual curiosity, and are dissatisfied with the status quo. You have a history of solving complex problems, not just identifying or reporting on them
You can effectively translate technology concepts into financial outcomes, and vice versa
You are a team player that is not afraid to roll up their sleeves
Experience supporting or partnering with Technology or Product organizations
Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
Ability to connect financial outcomes to operational drivers
Comfortable influencing senior stakeholders
Location: New York City, NY –In office (Tues-Thurs)
Target base salary range is $180,000-215,000 annually, which is based on various factors including skills and work experience. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a competitive additional compensation program that is based on individual and company performance.
