The Vegetative Services Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Vegetative Services Manager with cost estimating, technical writing, and proposal development for vegetation services business opportunities. This role involves conducting field assessments, organizing proposal and project efforts, and coordinating workflows for proposal deliverables. The role also involves participation in our project management team providing client coordination, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining project budgets. This is a hybrid role that combines excellent technical writing and site assessment capabilities with project managerial skills such as cost estimating and project management. The ideal candidate will be effective at conducting site assessments, developing technical support narrative/concepts, generating cost estimates to meet project scope and objectives, and championing project goals to ensure all objectives are met efficiently and effectively.


Estimated allocation of office to field work is 75%/25% respectively.


Estimated allocation between business development to project management duties 60%/40% respectively.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

Proposal Development

  • Manage the development of project proposals from inception to deliverable, including technical writing to support approach/scope concept development, cost estimates, and milestone timeline.
     

Create and Review Costing

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects based on bid items and/or conceptual scope and goals.
  • Review and update costing to reflect changes in project scope or materials.
     

Champion Project Goals and Ensure Objectives Are Met

  • Provide direction to field staff and project team in achieving project goals and objectives.
  • Monitor project progress both remotely and from the field and adjust accordingly to ensure targets are met.
     

Create Initial Concept and Quantities

  • Develop initial project concepts, including scope, design, and material quantities.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager, Design Team, and Vegetation Services Team to refine concepts and ensure feasibility.
     

Coordinate and Manage All Aspects of Project Workflow

  • Oversee the entire workflow of assigned projects, from planning and scheduling to execution and final delivery.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Occasionally assist with field work based on work availability to perform active vegetation management using tools and herbicide.
     

Perform QA/QC of Deliverables

  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of all project deliverables both remotely and in the field.
  • Ensure that all project deliverables meet company and client standards.
     

Review and Approve Monthly Billing

  • Review monthly billing statements for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review and approve monthly invoices.
     

Manage Project Budget

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met.
  • Track expenses and make necessary adjustments to stay within budget.

Position Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Restoration Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Botany or a related field.
  • Experience: 2 or more years of professional experience in ecological restoration, conservation, or natural resource management, and corresponding demonstrated project management.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Restoration Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Botany or a related field
  • Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in ecological restoration, conservation, or natural resource management, and corresponding demonstrated project management.
  • Certificate or Graduate-Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Ohio Department of Agriculture Commercial Applicator License in the Categories of 3A – General Aquatic Pest Control, 4A – Forest Pest Control, 5 – Industrial Vegetation Control, and Commercial CORE.
  • Previous experience in proposal writing and business development.
  • Experience in project budgeting, costing, and financial management.
  • Proven ability to lead project teams and manage complex workflows.
     

Desired Skills

  • Demonstratable knowledge of invasive vegetation management, native revegetation, stream morphology, wetland ecology, restoration construction, and/or ecological restoration.

Work Environment

The work environment will be a mix of in-office, remote work, field work, and travel. This position is a remote hybrid role, meaning the employee will work remotely but will be required to come into the Stow, Ohio office to retrieve a company vehicle as needed to attend to attend field work. Field work includes attending pre-bid site visits, attending client walk-throughs, conducting invasive vegetation management, native revegetation, and vegetation monitoring, as well as data collection. The employee will be required to travel out-of-state as needed during the standard five-day work week.

Standard office equipment will be provided to enable work in the office or at home. The home working environment must be one that facilitates productive and efficient work. Uninterrupted home-based internet is necessary to attend and host video calls, along with a minimum bandwidth speed of 20 mbps. If you do not have an in-home office space or cannot meet the internet requirements, space will be provided for you at the Stow, Ohio office.

Physical Requirements: Conduct normal job duties and be able to conduct site visits or assist with field assessments as necessary.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel. Potential for occasional overnights as necessary for project needs. Valid driver’s license required.
