Unit Assistant – Full Time (Day Shift, Monday–Friday, AM Hours)

We’re seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Assistant to support daily operations at the St. Francis Home. This role functions as a unit clerk/secretary and is essential in ensuring smooth communication and workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform clerical and administrative tasks with accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Enter physician orders and manage documentation efficiently
  • Handle faxing, scanning, and processing lab and medication orders
  • Support the clinical team with prompt, reliable administrative assistance

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous healthcare or clinical support experience
  • Proficiency with PointClickCare and Epic
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word

Job Summary:

Clerk level role performing routine clerical work with clearly defined procedures under direct supervision.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists in maintaining records and systems, receives and prepares information for processing or entry.
  • Composes, types and transcribes correspondence, forms, reports, presentation materials and other written communications as required. Routes written communications as appropriate.
  • Communicates with others in person, telephone, and/or email. May receive and screen visitors and handles general inquiries.
  • Assists with preparing for and facilitating meetings, conferences, programs and/or special events.
  • Establishes and maintains filing systems. Orders and stocks supplies.
  • May enter information from a variety of sources into computer database(s) and verify data entered into computer by checking printouts/reports for errors and correcting as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
