The opportunity

Are you a seasoned Senior Underwriter with a strong background in Crop insurance and looking for the next step in your career at QBE? Join us as the Underwriting Manager – Crop Elders portfolio, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping a brand-new team, driving growth, and delivering exceptional solutions for clients nationwide.

Your new role

As the Underwriting Manager, you will:

  • Lead a National Focus: Spearhead initiatives in new business development and manage the growth strategy for QBE Crop underwriting elders portfolio.

  • Portfolio Management: Collaborate with external third parties, portfolio and reinsurers.

  • Handle Complex Referrals: Bring your technical expertise to provide solutions for intricate cases, ensuring the highest standards of underwriting.

  • Client Relationship Management: Collaborate directly with clients to deliver tailored solutions, solidify relationships, and uphold our commitment to excellence.

  • Educate and Train: Mentor and support internal teams by delivering training and sharing your deep product knowledge.

  • Support Cross-Business Collaboration: Work closely with other commercial lines teams to provide integrated customer solutions that exceed expectations.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have strong underwriting experience, with a focus on Crop and rural insurance. You will also have;

  • Technical Expertise: A strong foundation in product-specific knowledge and the ability to navigate complex underwriting scenarios.

  • Leadership Potential: Ideal for a Senior Underwriter ready to step into a strategic leadership role. Prior people management experience is not essential; we value your technical background and problem-solving acumen.

  • Strategic Vision: A forward-thinker capable of driving growth and contributing to the department's success.

  • Collaborative Spirit: Strong communication and collaboration skills to support and educate teams while delivering exceptional client solutions.
