We are seeking a talented individual to join our Innovation team as UI/UX Designer. You’ll work at the intersection of design, engineering, and AI innovation — creating intuitive, elegant, and purposeful interfaces that make intelligent tools more effective and accessible for colleagues worldwide.
If you are passionate about great design, privilege substance over form, are pragmatic and aspirational at the same time, strive to find simple solutions to complex problems, and can wrap it all up in a beautiful design that delights clients, you should talk to us. This position will be based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania as a hybrid role that has a requirement of working three days a week in the office.
Marsh McLennan (MMC) has established its EMEA Technology Hub in Cluj, Romania, reflecting our commitment to innovation and excellence. This hub is central to our digital strategy, addressing emerging challenges and enhancing service delivery through advanced technology solutions that empower our clients and promote sustainable growth.
As a UI/UX Designer, you will be expected to increasingly be more comfortable with the following areas:
- Product experience design lifecycle (from concept to detailed specification to implementation) - that would include: user research, personas definition, IA, concept generation, detailed design, all within a user-centered framework.
- Defining, producing, and implementing the designs for a highly efficient and emotionally engaging UX within the delivery team made up of Software Engineers and Product Managers.
We will count on you to:
- Design and refine user interfaces for the internal AI product with a focus on usability and accessibility.
- Collaborate with engineers, data specialists, and fellow designers to translate complex AI functionality into clear, human-centred experiences.
- Use Figma and Figma Make to develop prototypes, design systems, and polished UI components.
- Leverage AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude to explore and enhance design workflow and ideation.
- Contribute to design reviews, maintain consistency across products, and champion inclusivity in every interaction.
What you need to have:
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Romanian.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work in the field.
- Proficiency in prototyping tools to facilitate early user feedback, communicate design direction, and engage stakeholders in the decision-making process (e.g., FIGMA & Adobe Creative Suite).
- Understanding of web and mobile technologies, specifically the UX capabilities of leading platforms.
- Ability to think outside the box and a drive to solve complex problems.
- Strong interest in becoming an expert on the product, technology, and processes.
- High level understanding of the design process, why is important, the implication of “cutting corners”, and how to carry out one.
What makes you stand out?
- Ability to think outside the box and a drive to solve complex problems. If you want your brain fully engaged at work, we are the place you are looking for.
- Some understanding of the Agile UX design and software development methodology as you will work in close collaboration with Engineers, you will become proficient with time.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge on how to run user research, from basic usability testing to more sophisticated exploratory research methodologies.
- BA/BSc in Interaction/Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Psychology, or related field. Knowing the theory in most cases does help the practice but a well-rounded self-thought designer is as good as master graduate.
