GENERAL PURPOSE
The Designer, Interiors is responsible for designing branded environments that deliver world class experiences for all MillerKnoll brands, including Herman Miller and Knoll. The Designer helps to realize the design strategy and creative development with working with Design Directors and Senior Managers, and visually and verbally communicate those strategies to internal stakeholders. This role will develop designs from concept to completion, ensuring that they reflect a deep understanding of MillerKnoll products, planning principles, and brand experience standards. In addition, the Designer will bring an awareness of contemporary and historical design, workplace trends, and sustainable design principles. The role works in collaboration with other teams including Architecture, Innovation, Customer Experience, Marketing, Product, IT, and other internal teams, as well as external design resources as required by project. The Designer reports to the Design Director, Interiors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develops designs for MillerKnoll brand environments including contract showrooms, exhibitions, trade shows, workplace environments, and facilities.
Collaborates with consultants to design spaces that conform to federal, state, local laws, and regional building codes.
Creates design documentation from concept through schematic design, design development and design-intent drawings.
Maintains knowledge of MillerKnoll brand products, materials and finishes.
Manages design development, documentation, and communication of intent with internal and external execution partners for interiors and fixtures.
Prepares and delivers presentations.
Provides on-site information to project implementation team to ensure installation meets design intent.
Refines, tests, and revises concepts and design solutions based on feedback from team members, including creative directors, art directors and senior design staff, to arrive at creative solutions that meet or exceed project goals.
Researches and is knowledgeable of design industry and consumer trends.
Reviews shop drawings for construction/installation, coordinating notes and responses with respective project manager and consultants.
Uses computer-aided drafting (CAD) and related software to produce, manage, coordinate and assist in the creation of 2D and 3D assets that depict space planning concepts, furniture layouts and color-material-finish options for all projects, as necessary.
Works with peers in Brand Marketing and Brand Creative to deliver integrated brand narratives in design solutions.
Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree and/or a master’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, or related discipline.
Desire to be involved in all aspects of a project, from concept to implementation.
Rich, diverse experience in architecture, interior design, environmental brand design, or related discipline preferred.
3 - 5 years of professional experience in an Architecture, Interior Design, or related discipline
Skills and Abilities
Proficient in design tools including (or able to acquire these skills quickly) SketchUp, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and similar software.
Self-motivated with a strong desire to be involved in all aspects of a project from Concept Design through implementation.
Excellent skills in producing renderings and images.
Strong team collaboration and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with senior leadership and team members.
Ability to self-manage and take own initiatives, developing comprehensive work plans, setting goals and executing results.
Present design work effectively through verbal, written, 2D & 3D visualization, and graphic techniques.
Independently working and managing time and output in a distributed team environment.
Excellent design, organization, and communications skills.
Ability to source and compile material specs for review.
