Transition Manager – Supply Chain

Location: Bangalore (On-site)
Function: Supply Chain / Supplier Development & Transition Management

What you will do:

The Transition Manager will lead supplier work transfer and industrialization projects ensuring successful relocation or introduction of aerospace parts and assemblies to approved suppliers.

This role is pivotal to achieving the company’s global sourcing strategy — ensuring that supplier transitions are executed safely, compliantly, and on schedule, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance.

The Transition Manager will partner closely with global commodity managers, engineering, quality, and supplier teams to deliver seamless production readiness and sustainment, minimizing business disruption and ensuring full alignment to aerospace quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Work Transfer Program Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end execution of supplier work transfer programs, from planning through qualification and steady-state production.
  • Support RFQ and supplier selection by assessing capability, certification status, and technical readiness.
  • Develop detailed transition roadmaps — defining key milestones (First Article, PPAP, FAIR, SOP, etc.), risk plans, and control gates.
  • Drive adherence to transition governance, ensuring all deliverables are met in accordance with aerospace quality and compliance standards.

2. Supplier Development & Readiness

  • Conduct supplier capability and gap assessments focusing on AS9100 compliance, special process control (NADCAP), and manufacturing maturity.
  • Collaborate with supplier teams to establish robust project plans, including tooling readiness, qualification testing, and capacity validation.
  • Monitor supplier progress on key deliverables and escalate risks proactively to leadership.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Act as the single point of coordination between supplier, global commodity management, engineering, quality, logistics, and operations.
  • Ensure transparent and timely communication across global and local teams — especially during design transfer, qualification, and first production runs.
  • Work closely with Program Managers and Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) to align quality gates and certification requirements.

4. Risk, Quality, and Compliance Management

  • Identify transition risks early (technical, capacity, supply chain, quality) and lead mitigation planning.
  • Ensure all work transfers comply with AS9100, customer-specific requirements, and export control regulations (ITAR/EAR).
  • Drive structured problem solving and root cause analysis using tools such as 8D, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Validate supplier’s First Article Inspection (FAI) readiness and ensure documentation meets customer and regulatory expectations.

5. Reporting & Performance Management

  • Track and report transition progress using program dashboards (milestone adherence, supplier readiness, risk closure rates).
  • Present weekly project status updates to global leadership and commodity teams.
  • Document lessons learned and implement continuous improvement practices for future transitions.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Aerospace / Industrial Engineering  preferred).
  • 10–15 years of experience in aerospace supply chain, supplier development, or work transfer / industrialization programs.
  • Proven track record managing multi-supplier transition projects within a global aerospace supply base.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes — machining, special processes, assembly, and testing.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, APQP, PPAP, FAIR, and DFMEA/PFMEA frameworks.
  • Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools (MS Project, Excel, Power BI, Teams, SAP/ERP).

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Certification in Project Management (PMP / PRINCE2) or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Exposure to aerospace OEM or Tier-1 supplier operations.
  • Experience in localization, outsourcing, or cost-reduction transitions within regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with ITAR/EAR or similar export control frameworks.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Program Management: Excellent planning, milestone control, and execution discipline.
  • Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, documentation, and aerospace quality systems.
  • Supplier Engagement: Ability to build strong supplier relationships and drive accountability.
  • Problem Solving: Structured and data-driven; experienced in root cause analysis and risk management.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Adept at working across time zones and disciplines (Engineering, Quality, Procurement).
  • Communication: Clear, concise communicator; capable of presenting complex issues to global leadership.
  • Leadership & Ownership: Strong influencing skills and ability to drive results without direct authority.

Performance Indicators (Success Metrics):

  • On-Time Delivery of transition milestones (% of projects meeting target dates)
  • Supplier Qualification Readiness (% suppliers passing FAI/PPAP on first attempt)
  • Issue Closure Effectiveness (turnaround time for major risk/action items)
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction (feedback from commodity, engineering, and quality teams)
  • Transition Cost and Schedule Adherence

What we offer:

  • Be part of a global aerospace leader driving strategic supply chain transformation.
  • Engage directly with cutting-edge suppliers and technologies shaping next-generation aerospace manufacturing.
