Overview:

The Transaction Management Strategic Implementation Manager serves as a critical connector between strategy and execution within the Institutional Services Transaction Management (TM) organization. This role supports the development, enhancement, and rollout of standardized negotiation processes, diligence governance, and operational controls that strengthen TM’s role as an independent risk-management function.

With a foundation in corporate trust and agency services, this individual combines project management discipline with operational insight to help drive implementation initiatives, optimize workflows, support technology enablement, and enhance reporting and governance routines.

The role partners closely with the IS Transaction Management Leadership Team, Transaction Managers, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Technology, and senior leadership to ensure that new processes and standards are executed consistently and effectively across market segments.

Primary Responsibilities:

Implementation & Project Management

  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and deliverables for TM process, governance, and technology initiatives.

  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams, manage dependencies, and identify risks or obstacles that impact implementation.

  • Support pilot programs and phased rollouts, gather feedback, and assist in refining processes prior to broad deployment.

Process Standardization & Operating Model Execution

  • Translate TM strategic priorities into operating plans, workflows, and documented procedures.

  • Support the maintenance and execution of negotiation standards, fallback positions, and deal playbooks.

  • Help drive consistent application of diligence and negotiation standards across TM teams.

Risk Management & Control Support

  • Incorporate regulatory and contractual requirements into workflows to ensure TM’s function as an independent control layer.

  • Support monitoring of adherence to diligence standards, negotiation deviations, and key risk trends.

  • Assist in preparation of risk reporting for leadership, committees, and auditors.

Technology Integration & Workflow Optimization

  • Partner with technology teams to test, validate, and deploy system enhancements related to workflow, negotiation tracking, reporting, and document management.

  • Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and coordinate resolution of issues or enhancements.

  • Identify automation opportunities and areas where processes can be streamlined or modernized.

Data, Reporting & Analytics

  • Support development of dashboards, reporting routines, and analytics that provide insight into volumes, cycle times, negotiated positions, and risk patterns.

  • Track implementation KPIs and adoption metrics to measure success and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Assist with capacity tracking, workload distribution, and headcount planning analysis.

Governance, Communications & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Prepare meeting materials, coordinate TM leadership meeting agendas, and maintain action logs and decision documentation.

  • Support communications that convey TM strategy, operating model updates, and implementation progress.

  • Facilitate training, workshops, and stakeholder sessions to support adoption of new processes and tools.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 8 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 4 years’ relevant industry experience

Highly skilled proficiency in use of pertinent spreadsheets, graphing and presentation software

3+ years of project management or operational implementation experience within financial services.

5+ years of experience in corporate trust or agency services.

Strong understanding of trust account structures, transaction workflows, closing requirements, and fiduciary risk considerations.

Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional initiatives and coordinate with legal, compliance, risk, operations, and technology teams.

Education and Experience Preferred:

Experience implementing standardized workflows or operating models in a regulated environment.

Familiarity with workflow management tools, reporting platforms, and operational control frameworks.

Exposure to technology-enabled transformation or data/reporting development.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $94,400.00 - $157,400.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
