[What the role is]
The Education & Community Outreach (ECO) division is under the National Heritage Board (NHB) that promotes awareness and engagement with heritage among Singaporeans. The successful candidate will be part of a team that oversees NHB’s Heritage Activation Nodes (HAN) and other outreach initiative(s) which aims to involve the community in developing projects that celebrate the heritage of their neighbourhoods.[What you will be working on]
Oversee the development and delivery of co-created community initiatives with anchor partners in Heritage Activation Nodes. This includes co-designing and co-implementing innovative and compelling outreach initiatives, as well as to develop and administer Calls for Collaboration with NHB partners to promote public awareness and appreciation for Singapore’s heritage in alignment with the Our Singapore Heritage Plan. Key responsibilities include end-to-end project management from conceptualisation through evaluation to ensure efficient delivery of project goals, as well as ensuring compliance with governance guidelines and managing application processing and tracking for Calls for Collaboration.
Cultivate, develop and maintain partnerships with key agencies, organisations and individuals, across public and private sectors, in support of HANs and other relevant outreach initiatives,. This includes sourcing for new partnerships, in-kind sponsorships, , and engaging volunteers to contribute meaningfully to the programme delivery
Work closely with community partners to recruit, train, coordinate deployment and manage an active volunteer pool to support different heritage programmes by HAN partners and/or other general community heritage outreach initiatives through the year. This includes maintaining volunteer databases, planning of volunteer training roadmap, tracking participation metrics, and recognizing and rewarding volunteer contributions through appreciation programmes.
Work closely with NHB’s strategic communications team, partners and agencies to identify marketing and publicity opportunities to extend the reach of HAN initiatives.
Provide support for ad hoc tasks and other outreach programmes when required.
[What we are looking for]
Background in History, Arts, Social Science, Mass/Corporate Communications is preferred.
Keen interest in local culture, history and heritage
Preferably 4 to 6 years of work experience in non-profit institutions and/or the arts and heritage sectors.
Possess excellent partnership development, strong negotiation, presentation and project management skills.
Proactive and resourceful, willing to be on the move and work in a fast-paced environment.
Independent and able to manage different projects concurrently, while being a team player.
Must possess cultural sensitivity and understanding for diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in a vernacular language would be an advantage.
Demonstrated skills in handling government procurement, grant management and finance procedures will be an advantage.
Good knowledge on community work and grassroot initiatives within Singapore. Demonstrated experience in volunteer management will be an advantage.
Ability to work outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.
Successful candidates will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
