Job Summary: THIS IS AN AIR FORCE NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (MI CRTC), Position Description Number NGD1878000 and is part of the MI Alpena CRTC, Michigan Air National Guard.

Major Duties:

  • ***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POISITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP*** This position is located at an Air National Guard (ANG) Aviation Wing, Air Traffic Control (ATC) Squadron, Airfield Systems Flight. The purpose of the position is to provide technical expertise to maintain and certify Air traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATCALS). This includes performing investigation, analysis, diagnosis, testing, tuning, correction, optimization, alignment, and verification/certification to ensure continuous and reliable operation of air traffic control and landing and communication systems. Certifies assigned systems and sub-systems to ensure compliance with USAF and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) established standards and safety requirements. ATCALS cannot be used unless certified by the employee. Determines when equipment malfunctions warrant shutdown of various systems. Acts as expert technical consultant to determine whether systems are operationally acceptable and safe within the prescribed standards and tolerances for air traffic control and air navigation. Provides technical guidance, training, and assistance to other technicians and conducts on-the-job (OJT) training to apprentices in all phases of work. Conducts and documents OJT in all phases of equipment maintenance.Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing. The above duty description doesn't contain all details of the official position description.

Military Grades: E1-E6 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11 and above - must have 1-year equivalent to at least next lower grade level experience, education, or training in utilizing principles, basic functions, and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
