Job Summary
The STARE Lead Threat Systems Engineer identifies and assesses threat system characteristics, capabilities and tactics that drive sensor requirements and operational performance within an integrated air and missile defense force. In this case “threat” refers mainly to the systems the sensors must detect/track (e.g. tactical ballistic ballistic/aeroballistics missiles, cruise missiles, unmanned aerial systems, and tactical air-to-surface missiles to include anti-radiation missiles). Threat also includes aspects of the operational environment such as electronic attack and countermeasures. The Threat Lead will routinely interface with STARE Functional Staff elements, STARE Leadership, and the various Product office threat leads/key engineers. This position also requires the STARE Lead Threat System Engineer to have/develop an understanding of the role, functions and capabilities of STARE products within the operational architecture of Army air and missile defense force. The STARE Threat Lead is the primary coordination point with external Threat SMEs within the other PEO Component Project Offices including but not limited to the Integrated Fires Threat System Engineering Group. The STARE Threat Lead external interfaces include Army Threat Support Agencies, threat and target model/simulation development teams, test agencies, and National Intelligence Agencies.
