Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Thermal Spray Operator Leading Hand to perform automated and manual thermal spray coatings on valve components and other industrial equipment. The role involves programming robots for various part configurations, ensuring coating quality, maintaining detailed job documentation, and keeping equipment in excellent working condition. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, experience in thermal spray operations, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Operate manual and automated thermal spray equipment to apply coatings per specifications.
Program, modify, and troubleshoot robotic systems for various part configurations.
Conduct quality checks and report any issues to the lead or supervisor.
Set up and prepare components, including installing fixtures, applying masking, and blasting parts.
Construct balls, mandrels, and fabricate stem slot masking as required.
Maintain accurate and timely job documentation, including spray parameters, fusing charts, and quality records, and upload them into M-Files.
Transfer completed documentation to designated personnel.
Perform preventative maintenance and ensure calibration of thermal spray and laser cladding equipment.
Complete daily maintenance checklists and keep all tools in proper working order.
Comply with all HSE policies and procedures, use PPE correctly, and report any incidents or hazards immediately.
Participate in workplace inspections and contribute to safety improvements.
Undertake other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.
Advanced technical training in a related field from a recognised Technical School.
Relevant experience in thermal spray operations.
Proven ability to analyse and interpret technical data.
Customer-focused with strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong commitment to safety and quality.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Effective planning, organisation, and multitasking abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience with MRP systems.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
Strong troubleshooting and robotic programming skills.
Knowledge of thermal spray coating standards and quality assurance processes.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety best practices.
