As a Test Engineer, you will play a key role in an agile team focused on delivering high‑quality software that creates real business value. You will collaborate closely with engineers, business analysts, designers, and product owners to ensure new and enhanced systems perform reliably, meet requirements, and improve the customer experience.
You’ll contribute to both manual and automated testing, help drive continuous integration practices, and uphold quality throughout the development lifecycle.

The Role

Quality Assurance & Testing

  • Ensure the quality of new and existing features through manual testing and, where practical, automated testing and continuous integration.
  • Develop and maintain test strategies, plans, cases, scripts, and reports that support high‑quality delivery.
  • Create, execute, and maintain functional, integration, system, and regression tests.
  • Evaluate and plan regression testing for third‑party/cloud solutions and Unum-specific configurations.
  • Build and maintain traceability from requirements to test cases.

Collaboration & Agile Delivery

  • Partner with Business Analysts to define acceptance criteria and translate them into test scenarios (including automated tests where applicable).
  • Work closely with Software Engineers, Architects, and other team members to ensure features meet or exceed expectations.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and impediments daily to the Scrum Master/Team Lead.
  • Participate in sizing, estimation, and sprint planning sessions.
  • Contribute to a culture of quality, advocating QA best practices across the team.

Automation & Tools

  • Support and help drive test automation across all phases, including unit, system, integration, and regression testing.
  • Create and maintain test artifacts such as test plans and sprint test plans.
  • Maintain up-to-date information in ALM tools (e.g., Rally, Jira) and ensure transparency of progress.

Leadership & Coordination (as needed)

  • May guide the work of onshore/offshore testing teams, ensuring adherence to team standards and testing best practices.

Customer Focus

  • Approach testing with the mindset of the end user, ensuring that solutions enhance and improve customer experiences.
