Ensure full legal compliance in the management of hazardous waste generated from the collection of used batteries, while supporting the EHS Site Leader in evaluating applicable environmental legislation. This role safeguards regulatory adherence, documentation integrity, and alignment with environmental standards across operations.
Hazardous Waste Documentation & Control
Ensure accurate registration, classification, and return of all legal documentation generated during hazardous waste collection (MANIFESTS).
Environmental Compliance Audits
Audit compliance with environmental legislation related to hazardous waste handling, transportation, packaging, identification, and logbook registration. Analyze results, recommend corrective actions, and verify closure of findings.
Permit & Regulatory Strategy Support
Work with corporate teams to identify and develop strategies to meet permit conditions for waste importation and national collection (including transportation requirements).
Chemical Substances Compliance
Support the EHS Site Leader in developing and implementing the compliance program for chemical substances; inspect related activities and report deviations.
Environmental Authorizations (Air, Waste, Water)
Inspect critical control equipment and activities supporting compliance with air emissions, waste, and water discharge authorizations.
Continuous Training & Environmental Competence
Maintain environmental competencies through ongoing training and development programs.
ISO 14001 & Emergency Response
Understand responsibilities within the ISO 14001 system, know how to act in an environmental emergency, and exercise the authority to stop any activity that poses environmental risk.
HPT Operational Performance
Measure HPT (High‑Performance Teams) performance through scorecards and support team leads in meeting their objectives through training and feedback.
EHS Management System Compliance
Ensure adherence to all safety and health procedures; report and stop any activity that endangers employees or facility safety.
Incident Support & Quality System Compliance
Participate in incident investigations when required and ensure compliance with IATF 16949 quality requirements.
Other Duties
Perform additional safety, health, or environmental tasks as assigned.
Education:
Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Ecology, or Industrial Safety & Hygiene.
Experience:
Roles involving environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, or safety/environmental programs.
Key Skills:
Knowledge of environmental legislation, hazardous waste handling, audits, chemical substances compliance, and environmental permits.
Languages:
English intermediate
