Credit Technology Lead within Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB)

The Core Credit team provides the CIB Credit department with solutions that enable CIB Credit to manage the Credit Lifecycle i.e. from Credit Origination, Post Sanction Fulfillment and Excess Management.

The department supports a combination of vendor applications and internally developed solutions. Supporting a vendor credit risk engine, custom front ends, various MI, ETL and API components.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Leading and managing the Credit Technology Team comprised of scrum masters, analysts, developers and testers. This includes resource management; performance management, training and development plans, hiring and team structure.

  • Having a sound understanding of Corporate and Investment Credit, so as to guide the team and solicit requirements from Credit specialists.

  • Manage engagements with business stakeholders, vendors and other Technology teams within the organization.

  • Drive and coordinate change initiatives, both projects and minor changes.

  • Define and manage the department and project budgets.

  • Leading the team through Cloud adoption and optimization.

  • Product & Service Direction Setting, Solution Design & Performance Management.

  • DevOps (with deep knowledge & understanding of the context within which we develop architecturally & infrastructural).

  • Delivery Management (where there is a specific product / service you manage).

  • Financial & Vendor Management, Risk & Governance.

Education and experience required:

  • 8 - 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Relevant B-Degree in Computer Science OR; equivalent level of industry certification in technical field & essential if minimum requirements of experience & practical application is evident

  • Banking experience

  • Technology experience in Credit or Markets IT departments

  • Cross domain knowledge

Leadership and Influence:

  • Experience in leading small – medium sized multifaceted teams

  • Proven ability to influence and negotiate at executive committee level and represent the domain in enterprise-wide governance forums

  • Experience leading technology and engineering culture transformation at scale (agile, DevOps, SRE maturity uplift)

  • Proven ability to build internal capability pipelines, reduce dependency on contractors, and develop succession-ready leaders

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing fit for purpose technology operating models

  • Excellent communication, analytical skills and decision-making ability in collaborative environments

Business Impact and Strategy:

  • Experience and proven track record defining enterprise-wide technical strategies single / limited product / service environment

  • Demonstrated track record of converting technology strategy into measurable business outcomes

  • Track record shaping vendor strategy, driving cost optimisation, and making evidence based build vs buy decisions

Technical Skills and Integration:

  • Ability to define and measure product value metrics (e.g., credit decision turnaround time, stability, automation rates)

  • Experience driving end to end solution integration across multiple technology domains

  • Experience managing technology that supports regulatory credit processes and integration with risk policy frameworks

  • Strong understanding of modern data architectures (streaming, event driven, cloud data warehouses) and their application in credit decisioning

  • Technical depth and breadth, strong understanding of relevant tech stacks, solution design, architectures, engineering principles, and integration patterns

  • Sets and enforces coding best practices, reviews code, and drives technical excellence

  • DevOps & CI/CD Enablement, familiar with automated pipelines, testing frameworks, monitoring, and production support

  • Experience with open-source relational databases

Education

Bachelor's Degree: Information Technology
