Great American Risk Solutions writes a diverse mix of property and casualty business, both primary and excess. Risk Solutions writes mostly non-admitted business, partnering with leading wholesalers. We focus on specialized solutions for a diverse market.

We are currently looking for a Production Underwriter to join the Great American Risk Solutions Division. This individual will primarily handle renewals on our Long-Term Care team, with the opportunity to handle new business submissions as assigned. The Long-Term Care team primarily writes General Liability, Professional Liability, and Excess Liability.

To support this, employees in this role and that are local to the Cincinnati area, are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in office days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Evaluates and underwrites new and renewal business in accordance with Company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
Analyzes risk information to make informed decisions on coverage, pricing, and terms.
Collaborates with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information and clarify details.
Orders additional reports and screens, such as Medicare surveys, loss history reports, outside inspections, etc., to inform decisions.
Ensures proper documentation of underwriting decisions and compliance with state and federal insurance regulations.
Evaluates existing policies for potential renewal or modification.
Communicates underwriting decisions clearly and effectively to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
Stays updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers in order to attract and retain profitable business.
Interprets, explains, and markets products and services.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Generally, a minimum of 1 to 2 years of related insurance experience.
Position requires occasional travel (up to 10%).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Strong negotiation and decision-making ability.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
