Role Description

  • Work closely with engineers and develop best technical design and approach.
  • Provide engineering execution excellence, as well as technical vision and direction, to ensure the engineering team is aligned with the strategy of the bank.
  • Continuously bring innovative prototype while working with the team to keep the bank on top of the technology innovation curve.
  • Shaping the architecture roadmap within AFC organization and implement technology strategy.
  • Provide end to end ownership of technology solutions delivered to meet requirements, delivering the architecture required to realize both functional and non-functional capabilities.
  • Conduct or participate architectural reviews, Own and manage the architectural risks.

Your key responsibilities

As a Technology Lead Engineer / Architect in AFC Technology, your role is crucial in designing and implementing solutions that are secure, efficient, and scalable.

Here are some key responsibilities:

Delivery and Architecture Design - Design high-level and detailed architecture for screening solutions, ensuring they align with the organization’s standards and long-term goals.

  • Work with domain experts to understand requirements for different screening systems and design architecture that meets these needs.
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation, including system and data flows.

Security and Compliance - Ensure screening systems comply with industry regulations like PCI-DSS, GDPR, and AML (Anti-Money Laundering)

  • Implement security best practices to protect sensitive financial data from threats, including encryption, tokenization, and fraud detection.
  • Collaborate with security teams to conduct audits and vulnerability assessments.

Scalability and Performance - Design solutions to handle high transaction volumes with low latency and minimal downtime.

  • Optimize system performance to support real-time or near-real-time screening processing, especially as volumes grow.
  • Implement distributed systems, microservices, and caching mechanisms to ensure scalability.

Integration and Interoperability- Work on integrations with internal and external systems like core banking systems and third-party service providers.

Technology Strategy and Innovation - Keep up with the latest trends and advancements in AFC technology (such as screening and list management) and assess their relevance to the organization.

  • Develop and implement a technology roadmap for the screening systems in alignment with business goals.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and innovation within the AFC ecosystem.

System Reliability and Resilience -Implement fault-tolerant designs to ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

  • Design solutions to handle and quickly recover from failures, network issues, and other disruptions.
  • Work with DevOps teams to set up monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for proactive issue detection.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement- Collaborate with product, business, compliance, and operations teams to understand requirements and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Work closely with software development and engineering teams to oversee implementation and provide guidance.

Your skills and experience

  • 15+ years of hands-on development experience with some technical architecture responsibilities for Java/J2EE/TypeScript/Python based Enterprise Applications.
  • Experience in design/development of highly scalable, available, large scale banking applications
  • The candidate must demonstrate excellent software development skills in PL/SQL, Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot Microservices, Oracle.
  • Experience with Open-source technologies, framework, platforms, and tools
  • Experience in Development and Monitoring Tools (e.g. IntelliJ/Eclipse, Splunk, Kibana)
  • Domain /Functional knowledge – Banking and Financial Services.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • Has skills to orchestrate release workflow and implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Bitbucket, uDeploy, Docker, Kubernetes etc.

Experience & Skills desired

  • Individuals who have a desire of self-improvement through experience, observation, introspection, reading and discussion
  • Experience in Agile Software Development
  • Knowledge of BDD/TD methodologies and technologies like Cucumber, Test Automations using Java
  • Experience in GCP (Google cloud platform).
  • Good understanding of SRE practices and tools.
