JOB OVERVIEW:

Leads a team of individuals within the Maintenance department to drive success in five key focus areas, safety, quality, service, performance, and people. Provides direction, goals and development to Maintenance team member’s which includes department leads, planners and frontline maintenance team members. Will be responsible for maintaining and adhering to the budget for the facilities department, including both inhouse expenses and outside services. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the management, coordination, cost justification and budgeting of projects in the plant miscellaneous and/or facilities category. Projects typically include, but are not limited to, those that fall into the $20,000 to $100,000 dollar range.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                        

  • Collaborates with plant leadership to establish, communicate, and execute measurable maintenance, production, and cultural goals to deliver uncompromised safety, quality, service, performance, and people objectives in support of plant operations and the broader Blue Diamond Growers organization
  • Supports and develop key performance indicators that provide an ongoing real-time status towards achieving the day-to-day requirements to ensure that service levels are achieved.
  • Ensures daily direction to team members and planners have all pertinent information to support daily goals which results in the success of maintenance and production in the five key focus areas.
  • Fosters an environment of continuous improvement and learning to achieve and maintain industry leadership.
  • Manages assigned projects from start to finish, including all aspects of planning, coordinating, cost justification, budgeting, implementation, third party and OEM contractors as necessary, communication, stakeholder meetings, and proper training and handoff plan upon completion.
  • Anticipates problem issues before they arise and takes corrective action leveraging the preventative maintenance program to do so.
  • Works with departmental manager in the development and implementation of maintenance cost standards; acts as a resource in team settings to better understand and meet customer needs.
  • Stays abreast of cutting-edge technology through external trade shows and benchmarking of similar facilities including professional seminars.
  • Applies sound motivational and coaching techniques, including team member developmental feedback and recognitions for good work.
  • Manages employee contributions and potential growth so that opportunities for greater contributions can be capitalized.
  • Contribute to the development of effective employee training programs, including areas of GMP’s and safety awareness.
  • Helps drive and champion our “Zero Harm” behavioral based safety program.
  • Conduct training and promotes continuous learning of staff resulting in a flexible and agile workforce.
  • Recommends and implement systems and/or process controls for efficient operations, quality and productivity through continuous improvement and lean principles by establishing and communicating performance measures and results.
  • Assign specific duties to direct reports, conduct investigations or research, write technical, informative, or operational reports, work on special projects, attend and conduct meetings as required.
  • Reviews reports prepared by team members for clarity, completeness, accuracy and conformance with company policies. Route approved reports and records to appropriate points of contact.
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities between operations, maintenance and third-party contractors.
  • Acts as a team player to support the goals and objectives of the maintenance department and of Blue Diamond as a whole.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS                                                                                  

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of maintenance/operations leadership experience.
  • 2 years of project management experience.

Total minimum number of years of experience required in lieu of degree

  • 7 years of maintenance/operations leadership experience.
  • 6 years of project management experience.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Engineering related degree.
  • Project management, scheduling and budgeting experience. 
  • Must possess strong planning skills with ability to analyze trends and determine corrective actions. 
  • Demonstrated ability to write and interpret complex documents in a clear and concise manner.  
  • Act independently in a constructive manner. 
  • Must be able to exhibit flexibility in a 24/7 work-environment, with off-shift work occasionally required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability through discovering and utilizing people’s capabilities, recognizing good work and earning the respect of peers and subordinates.

The position may require the ability to meet the physical demands of heavy lifting to carry out the assigned duties.   

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position may require employee to work around energized equipment and is routinely exposed to hazardous materials. Position may require the exposure to various adverse conditions such as, heat, cold, noise, dust, fumes, dirt, and grease, and chemical substance.
