Innovation is the lifeline of any FMCG businesses and plays a key role in brand building enabling brands to improve brand equity, access new consumers and occasions as well as enticing premiumisation and creating incremental value for our customers.

The Innovation Commercialisation Manager role is accountable for translating the IOI innovation pipeline into a commercial reality through three main areas:

Firstly, the Innovation Commercialisation will partner with the European innovation team to bring the pipeline to gate 3 approval (concept and design) with IOI specific consumer and customer validation; Secondly, the ICM will lead the commercialisation of each project to deliver amazing execution and outcomes. This involves working cross functionally to develop a 5-year launch plan into gate 5 approval. Finally, for key strategic projects, the ICM role will then monitor flawless activation across all touchpoints across the first 3 – 6 months post launch. The role works closely with European Innovation and the IOI Sales and marketing teams throughout all stages.

What are we looking for in order to be successful in this role?

  • Commercial experience –with a proven track record in business delivery
  • Channel/Trade and Consumer marketing experience would be highly desirable.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and at pace with multiple projects.
  • Engaging Presentation skills– The gravitas to present to and influence key customers at a senior level internally and externally.
  • Execution Excellence: Ability to manage execution of plans brilliantly through other people and teams, demonstrate smart objective setting, clear measurement controls along with execution insight and course correction.
  • Influencing Skills – Ability to build great relationships and collaboration across the business hierarchy and within channels to be able to move with pace. Able to lead and inspire the senior management teams to the biggest possibility and align to course corrections where required.
  • Resilience & Emotional Energy – Ability to be able to empower and energise yourself in the face of challenges and adversity to find ways forward

Role Responsibilities

  • Innovation key driver of Growth – this is a vital part of our plans to make Ireland a £700m business! Without it we will not succeed. As such there is full internal commitment and intensity to deliver and accelerate the innovation momentum. This role will lead the commercialisation and delivery of Innovation projects, including the Gate process.
  • Our customers and the trade are inspired by our innovation agenda – the pipeline is rooted in our customer, consumer and market insight. These pipeline opportunities must grow the respective category and be both scalable and sustainable. This role will work with the sales teams to inspire our customers and the trade around these opportunities.
  • Best in class launches and Nurture plans – our execution is the envy of our peers – we are called out as best in class. This role will work with a cross-functional team of Brand, Activation and NRM to lead excellent launch, nurture and exit plans, and identify and lead interventions when needed and ensure we deliver our AOP and beyond. This should include a clear three-year plan at launch.
